Alson is a Senior Associate at Terra Law LLC. He graduated from Singapore Management University, Yung Pung How School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree and he was called to the bar in 2020. Since then, he has worked on high value commercial disputes, including contentious probate cases; one of which was reported in DFS v NUHS Fund Limited [2023] SGHC 336. 

Alson has engaged in a wide spectrum of general insurance, civil and commercial litigation work.  He also has experience in defending against interlocutory applications such as discovery and striking out hearings. 

Apart from English and Mandarin, Alson can also communicate in basic Japanese.

WORK HIGHLIGHTS:

• Acted in DFS v NUHS Fund Limited [2023] SGHC 336.
• Advised subsidiary proprietors on collective sale in Singapore, and acted in four transactions for the subsidiary proprietors - (i) Sale of Gloria Mansion at S$70.3 million, (ii) Sale of Maxwell House at S$276.7 million, (iii) Sale of Tanglin Shopping Centre at S$868 million, and (iv) Sale of Shenton House at $538 million.
• Defended a director from a claim of S$52 million for breach of director’s duties in the High Court of Singapore.
• Acted in a striking out application on the basis that the Plaintiff’s case was time-barred under the Limitation Act.
• Drafted submissions for a personal injury claim for pre-trial loss of income that won the High Court appeal, with damages being awarded at S$115,000 in favour of the client.
• Drafted legal agreements between an insurance company in Singapore and its      intermediaries, including indemnity agreements and PDPA policy.
• Acted for an elderly bus driver in criminal proceedings and drafted his letters of representation to appeal against his criminal charges.
• Acted pro bono for a 24-year-old man who was charged under the Moneylenders Act, and successfully reduced his sentence for the duration of imprisonment.
