Christopher has been in practice for over 10 years with a varied expertise in a diverse range of commercial disputes.
His body of work in his practice includes advising and representing clients on construction disputes, statutory adjudication applications made under the Building and Construction Security of Payment Act, real estate & tenancy disputes, directors and minority disputes, contentious insolvency proceedings, employment disputes, insurance claims, MCST disputes, shipping and IP (Trademark) disputes.
He regularly appears before all levels of the Singapore court, the Strata Title Board, Arbitral tribunals and Adjudicators appointed by the Singapore Mediation Centre in statutory adjudication applications.
Christopher has been a member of the Society of Construction Law since 2017.
WORK HIGHLIGHTS, representing:
- A tenant in a claim made by a landlord developer for breach of contract and forfeiture/set-off of deposit. Successfully defended the tenant against the landlord developer’s claim and helped the tenant to recover its deposit in the counterclaim.
- A Chinese company against a Singapore company for non-payment of delivered goods in Singapore. Succeeded in the claim, and in the defence against the Singapore company’s counterclaim for conspiracy and unjust enrichment.
- A party in a complex construction dispute involving Court proceedings and statutory adjudication applications, before eventually being decided in arbitration.
- Different parties in different statutory adjudication applications made under the Building and Construction Security of Payment Act.
- A Singapore company against its former directors for breach of fiduciary duties and succeeded in the claim.
- A party in a complex construction arbitration which was eventually settled.
- A party in an employment dispute involving unfair/constructive dismissal which was eventually settled.
- MCSTs and/or subsidiary proprietors in disputes including common property area disputes and recovery of arrears and contributions.
